Cistern Design & Reconfiguration

From a historical perspective cisterns usually have a basic design; whether they are square, rectangular, round or any other shape, water is channeled from the building roof via inlets that enters the chamber(s). Some cisterns are designed with more than one chamber where water flows from one chamber to the other via an opening at the bottom, mid-way or over the top of the partition that separates the chambers. Regardless of transition of water from one compartment to the other, debris from the building roof/gutter is transported along with the water into the cistern. Over time the build-up of debris becomes detrimental to the water quality and that requires emptying, cleaning and disinfection of the cistern.

Cistern Designs

Aqua Purification can assist new home owners who are in the drafting phase with the design of their new cistern. The design that we promote will prevent debris from entering the cistern water chamber therefore providing several advantages in cistern maintenance for the home owner which include,

Cistern Cleaning & Water System Assessment

It is our Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) that when a request for our cistern cleaning, repair service or installation of UV filtration water treatment system is made, an assessment is carried out to ensure our customer is properly informed and advised. When your cistern is cleaned by us the interior walls are scrubbed, pressure washed and disinfected to ensure that the structure is ready for refilling with clean water. If you have more than one cistern we can transfer water from one to the other during the cleaning process. If on-site storage of water is required we can store up to 2,500 gallons of water and replenish the cistern after cleaning is complete.

Repair of Leaking Cistern

New and old cisterns can and at times develop leaks due to fracture (cracks), porous concrete and high water pressure that forces water through the compromised area. Aqua Purification has an exemplary track record in the repair of leaking cisterns. We have done jobs that just involved patching minor cracks and those requiring more elaborate repair such as replacement of the cistern bottom and installation of liner.

Construction and Repair of Manhole Cover

If you need a light weight, less clumsy (not made from concrete) but highly durable manhole cover, Aqua Purification can provide and install your cistern manhole cover. We also repair and replace damaged and hazardous manhole covers.

Provision and Installation of Water Filter and UV Water Purifier

The improvement of water quality is done through the use of various methodologies and is best accomplished by a combination of two or more methodologies. Aqua Purification is highly experienced in the delivery of such services.

We provide and install water filters for homes, hotels, medical clinics, hospitals etc. Often, customers of domestic dwellings are confused as to whether they should filter all water entering into the building or just the water supplied to the kitchen sink. Our advice is usually to filter water at the point of entry of the building. This is in line with the philosophy that the water treated at the sink only would leave consumers exposed to untreated water elsewhere in the home, for example; in the shower and at the face basin.

An ultra violet (UV) water purifier is a piece of equipment that produces UV light which disinfects the water thereby making it safe for drinking. The UV purifier which is installed on the water distribution line just after the filter will purify all the water entering the building. Aqua Purification is the distributor for UV purifiers made by a company called Viqua which has more than 40 years’ experience in the development of such technology. Our mantra is that we service and maintain what we provide and keep our customers informed when their system is due for scheduled service.

Water Quality Testing

Aqua Purification offers water quality testing for any customer who is too busy to do this for themselves or who would prefer to have the service done by a professional. Even though we do not have our own functional laboratory at this point in time, we do have connections with other service providers (even an EPA certified laboratory), where we can have your water tested. We would come to your premises, collect whatever samples needed, see the process through to completion and report to you on the results.

Chemical water treatment

Contaminated water can also be disinfected through treatment with chlorine. Where there is such a need by a customer we will come to the site a do all the necessary measurements and calculations for treating your cistern water based on the quantity of water it currently contains.

Cleaning of roofs, guttering and removal of frogs

Due to water pooling or settling on concrete roofs there is a build-up of residue, dirt or sediment over time; inlets and guttering even becomes infested with frogs. Aqua Purification can pressure wash and clean your roof whether it’s made of concrete or has guttering. We will remove frogs from your cistern inlets at the same time.

Repair and sealing of concrete roof

Concrete roofs become porous over time, develop cracks and may tend to leak. Whether your roof is new or old and you are desirous of having it repaired and sealed, Aqua Purification provides service in repair and sealing of concrete roofs.
